Loud Mouth will be joining State in there series of Vs… shows for a free gig at The Mercantile on Dame Street.

Headlining we have Mick. E Rawk, who will be launching their new free download Mick’s Tape. A side project by Leigh (Exxon Valdez, The Gruesome Twosome, Yo Han Garfunkel & The Caribou Kid) and C.F.Meister (Exxon Valdez, Yo Han Garfunkel & The Caribou Kid, Speech Impediment).

Support comes from The Notas, who featured on States Faces of 2012 last month. They are six piece from Skerries, who combine the sounds of reverb heavy guitars, haunting, electric synths and heart pounding yet dancey drums to form a wall of sound that will have you dancing from the first note.

And kicking off the night we have our very own Benny Smiles. Spanning genres from post-rock to electropica, producer Benny Smiles is a one man live show. Eclectic sets include live bass guitar, percussion, vocals, synths and more, all recorded and looped on the fly then layered together to build entire songs right before your eyes.

Littlegreen caught up to have a chat with Blake and Ciaran, aka CF Meister, from the Loud Mouth collective to talk about their latest releases and plans for the future

LG: Tell us a bit about the collective? How did it come about?

B: We’re a group of like minded people from the music side of things, coming together and joining efforts to promote each other.

C: Well, originally it started off as a blog.

B: Yeah, I was in college and it was my media project, I set up the website, Loudmouth that promoted music, promoted the local scene and then when I finished college I decided to keep it going.

C: Yeah it was an idea that the website could be used for all these other things going on, like promoting EPs. So, me and Blake were in Exxon Valdez together, making music and then Cian was in Exxon Valdez too making his own music and I decided I wanted to release an EP so Blake kind of took charge of the whole management side of things. That’s how that started; we essentially started a label.

DJ M-1 is a hip hop DJ and producer but he has been focusing on production for the past year, so he found the return to mixing vinyl quite refreshing. He see's himself as a traditional producer, with straight up hip hop describing his style to a T. His next project features New York based mc's and will be out later in 2012. The Archetype EP explains the origin story of the Archetype, using atmospheric music to help you to create a visual experience. His latest EP crosses several genres such as break beat, dub-step and ambient, with the overall vibe acting as a cinematic approach to old school dance music. This atmosphere is created as the Archetype has a keen ear for old school synth sounds from the late 80's/90's, including VST's such as the Korgʼs poly six and wave station and then some good old fashioned Fm synthesis.

The cover art work was created by Donovan Delaney the AV Kid. Your free download also includes art work for each track which you can see below. It was contributed by LM artists Redahan, Rob Torrans and Donovan Delaney.

"I Was Suddenly Hit With An Overwhelming Sense Of Nostalgia And Loneliness" is a short film by C.F.Meister. The film is a combination of footage that lay dormant for 8 months with samples and loops Meister originally intended to use as soundtrack pieces but were too emotive and cinematic for anything he'd done before.

C.F. Meister is currently working on an E.P that will include a finished version of Food Coma. You can catch Meister and LM's Redahan DJing at the Twisted Pepper this Saturday (Jan 28th) with several members of the First Second Label, more info here.

Secret School of Sound

The Secret School of Sound is a sound training school in Dublin's Twisted Pepper, offering a range of short, low-cost courses and workshops in Ableton Live, Logic Pro, DJing and music production.

The easy to reach city centre location boasts a fully kitted out audio education suite where the school’s trademark music production courses in Ableton Live and Logic Pro will take place. DJ classes will be held downstairs in The Basement venue, giving students the chance to learn and practice on one of Ireland’s best club sound systems. They offer a range of music production and DJ courses, all of which cost €300 and are 5 weeks in duration.

The school is run by Ross Fortune, a composer/producer and experienced music production tutor from Wicklow. Ross has built up more than 8 years of expertise teaching music and music technology at a number of schools, and now brings his expertise to our Ableton Live and Logic Pro courses.

edit;erase presents ‘Into the static,’ his debut EP release with The Loud Mouth Collective. It features 5 electronic hip-hop instrumentals which are packed full of warmth and ambient colouring. Into the static was named from the visualisation of the constant never ending stream of music in this internet age as being like static on a TV screen becoming more and more dense.

Loud Mouth: Know It Alls
Is an exhibition showcasing work by the Artists, Designers, Illustrators, Photographers and Filmmakers that are part of the Loud Mouth Collective. The exhibition will highlight the array of talents, through different media (including paint, print, sculpture, illustration, design, photography and video) that the Loud Mouth Collective has to offer. With works from Conall Kelleher, Shane Kenna, Conor Rooney, C.F.Meister, Redahan, Cian Corcoran (one half of Design Goat ), Luke B, Rob Torrans Leigh Curran and Hello Newman. The exhibition is intended to show that Loud Mouth is not just a music collective but a creative one.

Music on the opening night by Loud Mouth DJ's Sam Kay(ITIS), Luke B, Kiki, Redahan, C.F.Meister, Blake (The Gruesome Twosome ) and Conall Kelleher.

The LM DJ's will start the night right bringing a whole host of tasty tunes ranging from hip-hop, soul, funk and dub. Starting with chilled laid back vibes to soundtrack the work on display the vibe will progress to bring you into some grooves that will get your hips moving.

Loud Mouth Podcast #5 - SHORTIE by Loud Mouth

Its the first of the month and Loud Mouth are back with their 5th Podcast, this time around with Dublin based DJ and producer Shortie.

Shortie has been DJing for the past 15 years and has been producing his own tunes for the last 3 years. His original venture into production was as one half of Schizofonics but since he has released two solo ep’s, one with Bodytonic and another with Tokyo based label TCY Recordings. Shorties last mix went out on TCY Recordings radio station last September.
For Loud Mouth’s 5th Podcast, Shortie has approached this mix with the intention of putting together a collection of tracks that influenced and inspired him to produce his own music. “When I sat down to think about it, I'm more influenced by where things are going than what I listened to growing up and so here's a mix of 13 tunes I have had on repeat for a while (sorry!!).” The mix also includes 2 of his own productions 'Minefield' and 'Untitled,' as well as ‘Want 'em Naked’ by another aspiring Dublin based producer Frank Grimes.

Loud Mouth:Know It Alls is an exhibition showcasing work by the Artists, Designers, Illustrators, Photographers and Filmmakers that are part of the Loud Mouth Collective. The exhibition will highlight the array of talents, through different media (including paint, print, sculpture, illustration, design, photography and video) that the Loud Mouth Collective has to offer. With works from Conall Kelleher, Shane Kenna, Conor Rooney, C.F.Meister, Redahan, Cian Corcoran (one half of Design Goat ), Luke B, Rob Torrans Leigh Curran and Hello Newman. The exhibition is intended to show that Loud Mouth is not just a music collective but a creative one.

Music on the opening night by Loud Mouth DJ's Sam Kay(ITIS), Luke B, Kiki, Redahan, C.F.Meister, Blake(The Gruesome Twosome ) and Conall Kelleher.

The LM DJ's will start the night right bringing a whole host of tasty tunes ranging from hip-hop, soul, funk and dub. Starting with chilled laid back vibes to soundtrack the work on display the vibe will progress to bring you into some grooves that will get your hips moving.

The Beat Tape Volume One runs for just under twenty minutes and features seventeen tracks, including ‘New Era’ the hit track from the Loud Mouth Compilation Volume 1.

LUKE-B is a DJ, beat maker and vinyl collector. He fell in love with sampling music during his teenage years but his skills where sharpened significantly when he invested in an MPC sampler, early in 2009.

LM is happy to announce the arrival of the LM Podcast #2. This month we have a back to back to back mix from LM’s very own C.F. Meister, Cian (KIKI) and Redahan. Catch them live in The Bernard Shaw on Friday the 12th of August.

This 1 hour mix is a cut taken from a 3 hour set recorded live and unrehearsed in Redahans kitchen. The trio recently decided to start playing b2b2b sets together because they see it as a challenge as well as a refreshing way to preparing sets. While they all play similar styles of music, more often than not they seem to be asking each other the question "whats that tune?", so not only do the b2b2b sets work as a refreshing challenge but also as a unique form of musical appreciation. This mix is a bit rough around the edges but taking into consideration that it is only the third set that the trio have played together this approach can only help better them collectively and individually as DJs.

As individuals they have all developed reputations within the local DJ scene and have played in clubs such as The Twisted Pepper, The Button Factory, The Bernard Shaw, Underground at Kennedy's, Tivoli, Crawdaddy, Chocolate bar, Andrews Lane, South William, Wax, Spy and much more. Most recently Cian has supported Shackleton and Redahan has supported George Fitzgerald.

Redahan, C.F. Meister and Cian also work as producers as well as DJ’s. Cian and Meister are members of Exxon Valdez as well as having solo tracks on the LM Comps 1&2 (the latter also released ‘the Radio For Face e.p.’ earlier this year) Redahan who is the newest to production has crafted two fantastic tracks on LM to date which feature on the LM compilations and currently has a split e.p. with Meister on the way. Cian also has an e.p. in the works, which will be released next year.

The trio play the Bernard Shaw on Friday the 12th of August from 8 tll 1, playing an hour long set each then b2b2b for the final 2 hours of the night. It's FREE so it will definitely be worth your while checking out their selections for what should be 5 hours of great music.

Sam has been a DJ for the past 8 years and has been performing since 2006. He began with a regular night in the Harbour Bar in Bray playing a mashup of everything and anything from 80's to rock to electronic. He later became more involved in the electronic music scene which was his original inspiration to become a DJ. He plays reguarly in clubs throughout Dublin such as Pod/Crawdaddy, Wax, Twisted Pepper, The Underground @ Kennedy's, McGruders, The Bernard Shaw, SoundFactory and so on. He has also opened for Motor City Drum Ensemble, Function, Americhord, Deetron, Solomun, Seth Troxler and others, as well as playing at last years Electric Picnic. Sam has been producing for the past four years under the alias 'Intuitive Travels in Sound'.

The Obscene Routine is a 9 minute piece that merges hip-hop and electronic styles of production over Leigh's clever lyrics and unique styles. Originally inspired by Edan's Raw Rehearsal, it became a routine that the duo would play live. As it developed they decided that it was worthy of recording.

Do My Thing gives you some laid back hip-hop, Man on the Mic hits you with some electro funk and Yummy Mummy, is as the title suggests both rude & crude over a Bmore beat. The EP is roughly 18 minutes long, it begins with some blues and will leave you feeling nostalgic.
